Ballard’s Manufacturing Engineering Team has a position available for a Process Development Engineer in our Burnaby facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Design, development, implementation and troubleshooting of new and existing manufacturing processes;
· Specifying, procuring, commissioning and qualifying new equipment;
· Use designed experiments to optimize processes and build transfer functions between process variables versus finished product requirements;
· Identifying and justifying projects for improving manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity;
· Managing drawings, shop floor work instructions/build sheets, process flows, plant layouts, material handling and quality control systems;
· Specifying and commissioning tools, jigs, fixtures and tests.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering
· 5+ years experience in a hands on manufacturing environment
· Experience with web handling processes preferred
· Practical experience applying lean manufacturing and DFM methodologies
· Experience using APQP elements – PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan
· Project Management Experience
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organization skills
· Knowledge of SPC is an asset
· Experience in tooling design
· Modeling experience in Pro-E is an asset
· Professional Engineering designation is an asset
· Customer focused
The successful candidate should have a track record of leading multiple projects and developing and implementing new processes. Experience in process design and continuous improvement projects using tools and methodologies such as QFD, FMEA, DOE, SPC, and Error Proofing is preferred.
