Ballard’s Legal Department has an opportunity available for a corporate/commercial lawyer to join our team in Burnaby.
Reporting to the Manager, Legal and Corporate Secretary, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include a wide variety of corporate and commercial transactions and matters, such as drafting and negotiating corporate agreements, customer and supply contracts, employment law and securities regulatory matters. Specific duties will include working with the business team in negotiating and drafting of contracts, preparing securities regulatory filings, and working with outside counsel on a variety of more complex matters. This individual will also be involved in the ongoing management of Ballard’s corporate policies and corporate governance practices, and the general management of legal risk in Ballard’s operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Law Degree with 4 – 6 years work experience
- Solid grounding in corporate commercial matters
- Demonstrated drafting experience
Assets:
- Experience in licensing and agreement structuring
- Merger and acquisition experience
- Exposure to Intellectual Property matters
- Corporate Governance experience
Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment under significant time constraints, the successful candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface and work cooperatively in an informal team environment with all levels of management and technical staff.
