Regional Product Manager (CES)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Impact on the Business:
• Introduce, develop and maintain an appropriate Regional Product Manager (CES) product range that can be bundled with a credit facility and generate a healthy income stream in the respective countries.
• Define product set for each country that aligns with group strategy by improving/adding/divesting where appropriate and ensuring maximum product profitability.
• Project manages implementation of initiatives to grow the regional and Group CES businesses.
• Successfully install a robust product management process to ensure appropriate tracking of current business and devise ways to increase size of new/existing business
• Ensure CES products have the appropriate price positioning vis-à-vis competition and are deployed in the right distribution channels, so that it significantly increases fee income.

Customers / Stakeholders:
• The jobholder also needs to closely interact with Area Management, Sales, Distribution, Finance, Business Intelligence, Marketing, PFS Heads, Legal and compliance.
• Distribution functions, manufacturers (underwriters), operational support functions, other HSBC Group entities, IHO and regulators, across multiple geographies.
• 3rd Party Insurance providers.

Leadership & Teamwork :
• Work with Sales Support & Marketing to implement successful Above the Line & below the Line campaigns.
• Work with distribution functions to successfully launch new products into target markets, achieving sales and revenue targets.
• Work with local contacts, compliance and legal to develop product & proposition and roll-out.
• Work with other insurance teams to design and implement appropriate product offer optimization

Operational Effectiveness & Control :
• Ensure the compliance of CES business operations with local requirements and the compliance standards.
• Prepare documented approved processes that satisfy the requirements of the banking and insurance regulators in the countries in which we operate.
• Ensure controls are in place to mitigate any risks arising from the undertaking of insurance related activities.

Major Challenges
As the strategic plan calls for market entry in a number of different markets/jurisdictions, the job environment will be one of definition, creation and implementation, rather then following established procedures.

Many of the initiatives will require original thought to identify how they can be implemented. There will be few occasions where a precedent exists, although experience from elsewhere within the Group may be available. However, judgment will be required to determine how best practice from other parts of the world can be most effectively implemented.

The relationships between different elements of the CES businesses can be complex. The jobholder is required to work across internal departments, external suppliers and regional colleagues. Effective implementation with so many stakeholders will be complex; the success criteria will be that CES is straightforward for the customer and the distribution channels.

The jobholder's actions will have significant short and long term implications. It will therefore require exercising
foresight in order to address a variety of issues such as culture, technology, operations, regulations and competitive
pressures in an over- banked market. Furthermore the individual will require a very well developed level of
interpersonal, communication, analytical and people management skills.

Experience / Qualifications

• Well developed project management, product management, analytical, planning and organizational skills
• Experience of cross-functional working/project management, ideally within a bank or insurance company
• Experience of working across cultures and countries.
• Influencing and negotiating skills.
• Preparing business cases which include forecasting, in-depth financial analysis, development/analysis of MIS
• Strong communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• A minimum of an undergraduate degree
